Pakistan, a country full of problems

After independence in 1947, the people of sub-continent, Muslims in general hoped for a life that would be different from their previous rulers. A place where each and every individual would live in a society that promised freedom, respect, and most of all justice.

In contrast to their hopes, Pakistan became a country full of problems. 64 years after becoming a sovereign state, 13 years after becoming a nuclear state, we still face problems like corruption, poverty, energy crises and the list goes on and on.

Since independence Pakistan has been used synonymously with problems. You name a problem and we have it, from barbaric laws, to laws cleverly protecting the powerful, from inflation to corruption, from transportation problems to power crisis, from insecurity to lawlessness.

The repeated trial and error of governments trying to solve the problems of Pakistan becomes a problem themselves. With the military takeovers providing better economic results, one almost question whether democracy is a suitable form of governance in Pakistan. A change in political system will pave way for a bright future in Pakistan, but can it?

Pakistan is a country with great potential and every Pakistani is aware of it. What we require are leaders who will sacrifice themselves for the success of this county. Are there are any leader right now?

Some might name the untested Imran Khan. What if Imran Khan is no better than the rest? What if Imran Khan fails to provide relief to the public?

Imran Khan is a man just like any; it is possible that he will not be able to clear up six decades worth of piled predicaments over night.

What we need to do is take responsibly of our country as we would our homes. Standing up to what is right for the people no matter the consequences is what the great countries are made of. An attitude that says, “I can solve the problems of Pakistan” is what we need, rather than criticising from dawn till dusk.

Pakistan might be a country full of problems, but calling problem a problem will never lead to a solution.
