Sub Inspector of Police laid down his life while protecting a woman upon request
Islamabad – On 14 October, a man killed sub-inspector of the capital police and wounded another cop and a woman in Sector I – 10.
Sub Inspector Riaz Nadeem was in the firing line when he got shot twice in his chest while protecting a woman and died on the spot, in the process when the killer, Masood Elahi, started indiscriminate firing he injured a police constable and a woman named, Gulshan Bibi.
According to details, Gulshan Bibi who was divorced by Masood Elahi, requested protection for collecting a certificate of her son Hamza Masood from Islamabad Model School for Boys 1 – 10/2.
She sought police help because she received threats from her former husband, and upon reaching the school her husband working as a CDA employee along with other person opened fire.
Police sources said that sub inspector Riaz Nadeem died on the spot after receiving two bullets in his chest, and the injured policeman and woman were shifted to PIMS hospital where their treatment is underway.
The attacker managed to escape from the scene after the shootout and after the incident a heavy contingent of police reached the crime spot and cordoned off the area, by then the assailant escaped towards Rawalpindi before arrival of the police team.
The police officials have said that the perpetrators of the act would be arrested soon. IGP Bani Ami Khan and SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik reached the crime scene, and also visited the injured at PIMS and inquired after them.
The sub inspector’s body was shifted to Police Line Headquarters after the autopsy, where his funeral prayers were offered and he was given guard of honour.
After the funeral, the dead body of the deceased was sent to his native village, Bhera. The IGP said that the Islamabad police is proud of its officers and jawans who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He further added that the police where committed to ensuring protection to citizens and would never bow before mischievous elements.
The IGP and the SSP also asked the doctors to provide every possible treatment to the injured persons at the PIMS hospital
