PML-N in favour of new provinces

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) apparently made its stance clear on the formation of new provinces by saying it favoured the move. This was stated by PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif during his visit to Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday, October 19.

Addressing a gathering in the district, Nawaz Sharif clearly stated that he was in favour of forming new provinces in Bahawalpur and south Punjab. The PML-N is accused of holding an ambiguous take on the making of new provinces.

Also, Nawaz Sharif also criticized the incumbent federal government for what he called the ‘most corrupt’ government in the chequered history of the country. “Officials at the highest echelons are involved in corruption and that he needed a change in the country.”

The government, he said, was a failure. He said: “I do not believe the present administration would take any credible measure to stop corruption, since it is being run by the president himself.”

He expressed his resolve to change Pakistan should he get an opportunity. Nawaz Sharif asserted he would leave the politics if people wanted him to do so.

The PML-N chief also visited Sarkand, interior Sindh. During his visit to the province, considered to be stronghold of the PPP, he called for early implementation of all the demands and agreements recently signed in the All Parties Conference held in Islamabad.

He also said that hardly is anything being done for the people of the province.”Nothing has been done for the betterment of flood affected people in Sindh.”

Political observers are attaching importance to the recent visits of the PML-N chief to Sindh, and the criticism he has been coming up with. While the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has lambasted the federal government in his speeches and press talks in Punjab, Nawaz Sharif is taking it everywhere.

With political temperature rising in the country as the senate elections near, the PML-N’s angry outbursts and other moves are harbinger of hostile politics in both provinces and federal level. With such confrontation which is apparently at its latent stage for now, a collision may well be expected in the upcoming times.
