Pakistan should struggle hard to crush Haqqanis, says Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State conveyed the message of US Government that Pakistan should work harder to get rid of Haqqani network, which is operating on western side of Pak-Afghan border.

Clinton admired the collaboration of Pakistani government with the US in the war against terror, but asserted that Pakistan should increase its alliance with America. She justified herself by saying, “You can’t keep snakes in your back yard and expect them to only bite your neighbours.”

US has alleged Pakistan for retaining links with the Haqqanis. Clinton also said that US and Afghan forces have done a considerable job on the Pakistan’s concern of rising terrorist activities from Afghan border and now they want Pakistan to return the favour.

She added that we couldn’t obtain favourable results without working hard work and thus, Pakistan should elevate its efforts to get rid of the terrorists operating from Pakistan.

While referring to General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani’s statement, in which he told US “Pakistan is not like Afghanistan,” Clinton said that she agrees with him. She articulated that a more comprehensive plan is needed to control the terrorist activities, which are originating from Pakistan.

The US has invested billions of dollars in Pakistan,” she said. “Why? Because a thriving Pakistan is good (for Pakistan) and the rest of the world,” Clinton added.

She admired the All Parties Conference regarding peace related issues and said, “For too long, extremists have been able to operate in Pakistan and from Pakistani soil.”

Clinton emphasised her concern of taking strong action against the terrorist activities to reduce the loss of Pakistan, Afghanistan and America.
