Six more patients fall a victim to Dengue Fever in Lahore

Dengue Fever has killed six more patients in different hospitals of Lahore on Thursday, increasing the death toll in the provincial metropolis to 285.

The reports from the various hospitals of the city has revealed that the casualties included — Rahat Bano (45) of Rajgarh and Rafiqa Bibi (76) of Township died at Mayo Hospital, while Zahid Bashir (27), a resident of Chah Miran and Muhammad Javed (45) of Sodiwal took their last breaths at Services Hospital.

Robina Khalid (45), a resident of Green Town succumbed to the viral infection at Jinnah Hospital and 19-year-old Kiran of Chungi Amar Sidhu expired at General Hospital.

The Punjab Health Department has also given the confirmation regarding six deaths in the city, in the past 24 ours, due to Dengue Hemorrhageic Fever (DHF). Other than this, the reports have also indicated that 296 Dengue patients have tested positive, on 20th October 2011, out of which 36 patients were tested in Mayo Hospital, 13 in the Children’s Hospital, 29 in Jinnah Hospital, 29 in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 36 in Services Hospital, 19 in Lahore General Hospital, 24 in Shaikh Zayed Hospital, 26 in Institute of Public Health and another 84 in various public and private hospitals, laboratories and clinics.

The latest data has shown that the total number of Dengue patients so far has reached to 29, 980 in Lahore.  It is reported that the total number of deaths as increased to 258 in Punjab and 230 in Lahore.

The departments’ reports have indicated that the total number of dengue patients in Punjab from January 2011 to uptil now, has reached to 18,058; out of which, more than 15,410 belonged to Lahore.

Currently, 1, 538 dengue patients are under treatment in different hospitals of Punjab, out of which 1, 196 admitted in different hospitals of Lahore. In addition, 17,795 dengue have patients have recovered and discharged from the hospitals in Punjab, out of which 15, 229 were from Lahore.

The health department’s spokesman have told that in a bid to control the Dengue Virus, sprays and other activities were done in 1, 537 houses in union councils.
