Dengue Fever kills five more people in Lahore

Five more people have lost their lives in Lahore on Monday, due to Dengue Fever, which has raised the death toll in provincial metropolis to 303.

The list of these five causalities includes — Abrar of Badami Bagh, who died at Mayao Hospital, whereas the five persons — 85-year-old Ashraf of Township, 22-year-old Rizwan of Kasur, 34-year-old Khalid of Kot Lakhpat and 22-year-old Muhammad Umar of Khanqah Dogran, lost their lives at Jinnah Hosptial Lahore.

In addition, 224 more dengue patients were tested positive on Monday, taking the total count of Dengue patients to 30,060 in Lahore alone. The reports have revealed that 29 patients were tested positive in Mayo Hospital, 28 in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 23 in Services, 21 in Institute of Publi Health, 20 in Children’s Hospital, 14 in Shaikh Zayed Hospital, 13 in Jinnah Hospital and 12 in Lahore General Hospital. Besides, there are 84 more patients in different public and private hospitals, laboratories and clinics in the provincial metropolis.

In the same way, the Health Department has also indicated eight deaths, out of which six were reported from Lahore, due to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) during the last 24 hours, which has made the total death tally to 276 in Punjab and 244 in Lahore.

The recent Health Department’s report on Monday has shown that the total number of dengue patients reported in Punjab has reached to 18,950 from January 2011 to uptil now; out of which more than 16,094 were diagnosed at Lahore.

The latest statistics have also shown 266 new dengue patients reported in Punjab, out of which minimum 201 new cases were found in Lahore in the last 24 hours.

Currently 1,168 Dengue patients are under treatment in different hospitals of the province, out of which 913 are reported to be admitted in various hospitals of the city.

Punjab’s Minister earlier on the advice of Sri Lankan medical team, released three different kinds of fishes in different ponds of Lahore, which were told to eat Dengue Mosquitoes. However, according to latest reports, these fishes were stolen, a month after they were dropped in ponds.

The CM Punjab now has directed the Ministry of Forestry to release more fishes in the ponds and the public should be given awareness regarding their use.
