Private physicians and practitioners to attend Dengue training programme

Lahore, October 25: Punjab Government has announced a Dengue training programme for the private physicians and practitioners, which will start from Wednesday, October 26 in all major medical colleges of the city.

Shahbaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has given directions to the Health Department to take steps to enhance the awareness of the doctors in the province. The growing damage caused by Dengue to the lives of people has forced the government to make people more and more aware about this fatal disease.

The details about the Dengue training programme were discussed in the meeting, presided by the Health Secretary Mohammad Jahanzeb Khan. It was decided in the meeting that review or counsel meetings will take place today in different areas of the city in which the details of the training programme will be revealed to the private physicians and practitioners in the city.

The experienced doctors of different teaching hospitals will deliver lectures to physicians, practitioners and general public for making people more aware about Dengue and will help people to save themselves from this killing disease.

All major medical colleges of Lahore will be used for this training programme. All physicians and practitioners will have their own choice to choose the institute where they would attend the lectures of the training programme.

The names of the practitioners and physicians will be registered in today’s consultative meetings in different areas of the city. Those who want to become a part of this important training programme are welcomed to these local meetings.

Jahanzeb Khan revealed that the basic purpose of this training programme is to enhance awareness among the family physicians and general practitioners about the Dengue fever, which will help them effectively deal with this disease. These persons will have a better idea of how to treat the patients effectively.

The lectures of the senior doctors will also enlighten the physicians and practitioners treating the Dengue patients that how to check the symptoms of hemorrhagic fever and if it is found severe then they should immediately refer the patient to care hospitals for proper treatment.

He further added that attending this training programme will be compulsory for all doctors as the growing number of deaths caused by Dengue has made it an issue of national importance.
