Akshay Kumar: I am first an actor, then a producer
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has said that he is first an actor, then a producer in Indian film industry.
Akshay added that acting has always been his bread and butter and that he does not like to sit and watch over things. In addition, he mentioned that his job as a producer has always been very minimal.
The 44-year-old made his acting debut in Bollywood in 1991 by acting in a movie Saugandh, which was followed by thriller movie Khiladi in 1992.
After that, his two action films Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Mohra in 1994 were among the highest grossing films of the year.
An Indian actor talked to media and stated that he is more concerned about a film’s commercial success.
He commented, “Having said that, I do care about the reviews. As far as the concept is concerned, the film was initially made for Canadian and American audiences, with those kinds of sensibilities and sense of humour. I am proud to say it was the biggest
grosser in USA and Canada. It’s like an extra bonus I get there. The reason the film may not have fared that well in India because it was about a sport like ice hockey that’s not very well-known here.”
Akshay went on to mention, “It’s a genre I left six years ago and now I am training heavily to get back into it. I guess the lure of action is calling out to me. I started out as a Khiladi," says Akshay. So, is he ready to step into the shoes of superstar
Rajinikant in Punjabi Rajinikant? "There is no Punjabi Rajinikant; it is Khiladi 786 – Made in Punjab, and it’s part of the Khiladi series in which I will return to my action hero roots.”
Apart from that, Akshay told the media that he has pulled out of Anees Bazmee movie Hera Pheri 3 because he fell out with producer Firoz Nadiawala.
He also mentioned that he was never in Hera Pheri 3 and nobody had approached him for that film.
The super hit actor talked about John Abraham and added, "John has changed over the years. He has grown as an actor and there is more to him than meets the eye. He has matured and has become more dedicated and wants to prove himself."
