Imran Khan’s historical rally in Lahore

Monday, October 31st, 2011 6:26:55 by

There is bewilderment in media over the exact number of attendants that witnessed one of the biggest rallies in two decades yesterday. According to some, the figure was forty thousand whereas some believe there were more than 60 thousand that assembled around
Meenar-e- Pakistan to show their support to Imran Khan, leader of PTI or Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

But who cares what the figure was?

Imran Khan managed to achieve what he coveted. Opposing parties that were of the view, this rally would be a failure were flabbergasted to see such a massive assemblage.

People punched the clock from different areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwah, Sindh and Baluchistan just to show their support to the person they perceive as the only one capable of leading this country. Imran Khan was conjectured to address the rally after
Maghrib but people had already reached the venue by the afternoon which just shows how enthusiastic this nation is for a revolution.

Word “Successful” would be an understatement for this event. Tangible success that Imran gained is obvious through the number of people that showed up but it’s the intangible achievements that Imran and PTI has gained through this rally that might just change
the fate of this party in the upcoming elections.

Imran made his way to the stage at the proposed time and was welcomed with a boisterous cheer from the crowd. Though there was nothing much new in the speech, the mammoth meeting definitely helped his party in gaining the impulse it had constructed with
a series of rallies in Punjab and other areas.

Shedding light on what will be his prime objectives after coming into power, he said he would culminate corruption, announce an education emergency, augment tax collection, pursue an independent foreign policy, bring Balochistan (our province that is neglected
by government)  into the mainstream national politics, end the war on terror and protect rights of minorities and women.

According to him, Pakistan is in such a critical situation because of the corruption.

“Pakistan is losing over Rs3,000 billion a year in tax corruption. If it can be tapped, the country does not need foreign aid. Once the government wins the confidence of people, economic woes would simply go away.” Khan said

He also said, Pakistan is blessed with over 180 billion tons of coal and if government had utilized it, menace known as “Load shedding” would have never existed and in fact Pakistan would have been importing electricity to different countries.

In the end he warned all the corrupt leaders of major political parties to start looking for hideout places because revolution has already started. Let us hope he is right.
