Should banned Pakistani youngster Mohammad Amir be given a second chance

The cricketing world has been rocked by the revelations regarding Pakistan trio namely Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir. All three were found guilty over their involvement in spot-fixing and the questions remains – what now for the banned trio.

First thing first, the magnitude of their offense is beyond repair and for that they have faced the necessary consequences. While Butt was handed the highest sentence due to him being the skipper of the team when the events unfolded last year and was consequently
suffered with a 30 months jail sentence apart from his 10 year ban imposed by the ICC.

Asif on the other hand faces a year in prison with the Judge charging him over conspiracy to cheat. While the biggest disappointment came in, when young fast bowler, Mohammad Amir, who pleaded guilty before the start of the criminal trial, was awarded a
6-month jail sentence.

Indeed the penalties are a lesson for every one that any wrongdoing in sport will not be tolerated and the related parties will bear the consequences for their acts. While many will not giving the three a second chance, it is fair to say that everyone makes
mistake in their lives and learning from those blunders helps you in becoming who you are.

By the time their imposed ban his finished, Butt and Asif will be in their 30s, so a recall into the national time is somewhat unlikely. However, when one discusses the future of Amir, a sane person might be enticed to give the teenage a benefit of the doubt
due to his age and the background from where he comes from.

Regardless of this fact, he is an exceptional talent, who can win matches on his own. Also, by the time his ban finishes, he can still offer a lot to Pakistan cricket and one must recognize this fact and help the lad make a spirited comeback. Although these
words might not go down well with all, a little relaxation over the stance will help the youngster to repay the nation. Ideally, the task is difficult and the possibility of him wearing the green shirt is remote, though one should be able to identify that
mistakes can be made by humans and its for others to forgive him.

This will certainly send out a positive lesson to everyone that Pakistan as a nation is not corrupt and have the courage to back someone after they have learned from their mistake.
