Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf at odds over insertion of traditional politicians

After the successful public procession of October 30, 2011 the traditional and old politicians had started contacting chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) to get the party tickets for the next elections. However, the situation got unpleasant when
PTI divided in two groups over the inclusion of the old politicians.

As per reports, one group of PTI was in support of including the old faces in party. Because of new faces PTI failed to make an impact in the previous elections, especially in the rural areas. This group believe that with the inclusion of clean old politicians
party would be able to secure lot more seats in the 2013 elections than anticipated.

However, the other group of PTI that include some of the founder members of the party believe that the inclusion of old faces would not just damage the repute, but also betray the very purpose of the party which was to bring the revolution in the country.

According to this group that inclusion of the traditional faces would also strengthen their rival parties’ claims that PTI is now going with the actual dynamics of the electoral politics by getting solid politicians because of defeat fear in elections due
to new faces that are not well known among the general public.

These party members had quoted the example of the grand show of Imran Khan held in Gujranwala a short time back, where the party leader who had actually made all the arrangements for the show was removed to bring a person, who belongs to a conventional political
family for running the district affairs.

The opposing group of PTI said that similar changes were brought in other small districts as well and if these changes keep on happening then that time isn’t far when party will soon be hijacked by these old politicians.

To clarify the situation central secretary information of PTI Omar Sarfaraz Cheema told that the party will give maximum number of tickets to the fresh blood and as far as the inclusion of the old politicians is concerned their fate will be decided by the
investigation cell of the party that’ll be formed soon.

According to Cheema this cell will scrutinize and check all the assets of these traditional politicians. In short the party ticket will only be given to those politicians, who’ll receive ‘clean chit’ from this PTI cell. The spokesperson also told that PTI’s
central executive committee will soon finalize the members of this investigation cell that is likely to be formed by this Sunday.

Cheema had also defended his party’s position over the inclusion of the old faces, as he believe that there is now no wrong doing in getting “clean electables who agree with PTI’s programme of change”.
