Yousuf Raza Gilani expressed willingness to talk on all matters with India

In a recent statement, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan is willing to solve all issues with India in a negotiated settlement.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan communicated it in the following manner: "We believe in friendly relations with all the neighbouring countries in the region. We want negotiated settlement of all issues with our neighbour India. Once peace is established in
the region, South Asia will be able to get rid of poverty, diseases, injustice and ignorance."

The intention of Pakistan to solve all issues with its neighbour India, a country with whom a long history of hostilities has been associated, has come shortly after Pakistan had started the process of granting India the Most Favoured Nation status. The
commerce ministry of Pakistan has opened the way for the process of dialogue in trade related matters and is willing to talk about any issue. In this regard, the secretaries of commerce of both India as well as Pakistan are currently having talks in New Delhi.

Gilani also explained himself in this manner: "Recently, I have had a very successful meeting with Indian Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh in Maldives. We agreed that negotiation is the way out to resolve all outstanding issues.”

While talking about the kind of relations that Pakistan wants to establish with India, the Prime Minister of Pakistan also added that the country is headed by a democratically elected nation which believes in expression of different religions as well as
inter faith harmony. The Prime Minister of Pakistan reminded that the government of Pakistan firmly believes in the rights of the minorities as well as the expression of different religions and the government deems it so important that these principles have
been written down in the manifesto of the Pakistan People’s Party.

After having expressed his views and the intentions of the Pakistani government with regard to the relations with the government of India, Yousuf Raza Gilani went on to praise Baba Guru Nank and appreciated the efforts he had made with regards to religious
equality, expression of free speech and rights of the minorities.
