Dengue claims one more live, death toll surges 15 in Karachi

 

According to a research report from the Sindh health authorities, dengue claimed one more live in city, increasing the total death toll to 15, in Karachi, on Thursday, November 17.

The victim, 55 was a resident of Gulistan-i-Jauhar, who lost his battle against dengue in the OMI Hospital, on Wednesday, November 16. Overall, 17 people have lost their lives due to dengue fever across the Sindh. Meanwhile, 1400 dengue patients were admitted
in different public and private hospitals including healthcare centres in the city.

According to reports from the various hospitals and healthcare centres, 7 people succumbed to dengue at the Aga Khan University Hospital. In the meantime, 3 people became the victims of dengue at the Civil Hospital Karachi. Moreover, 2 dengue patients passed
away at the Dr Ziauddin Hospital and 2 patients at the OMI hospital.

Meanwhile, one person became the victim of dengue at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and 2 citizens died of dengue at the Ghulam Mohammad Mehar Medical College and Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad.

The surveillance reports revealed that around about 19 dengue patients were admitted in different private and public hospitals and healthcare centres in the city, on Thursday. On the other hand, almost 980 new dengue cases were reported in the metropolitan
area, out of which, 759 patients belonged to Karachi alone.

In the meantime, the observer Dr Mullick from the OMI Hospital said that due to changing weather conditions in Sindh, the number of dengue deaths have been curtailed during the last one and two weeks in the province.

Furthermore, he said that around about 35 new dengue patients were admitted at the various hospitals in the city during the last 24 hours. On the other hand, dengue hit Lahore intensely.

According to surveillance reports from the various hospitals in Lahore including Jinnah Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, CMH, Sheikh Zaid Hospital, Nawaz Sharif Hospital and General Hospital, almost 359 people have been succumbed to dengue across the metropolitan
area.

Moreover, dengue hit slightly at other provinces of the country including Khyber Pakhtukha and Baluchistan during the last one and two months across the areas.
