Rockstar, the Bollywood’s big hit has surpassed the record made by Shahrukh Khan’s movie Ra-One, as it is on the top of Indian Box Office chart.

Sci-fi magnum opus, Ra-One, which was released on Divali on October 26, had been on the No.1 spot for two weeks. The Bollywood’s costliest movie was released on more than 3500 screens at a time in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions
in over 3,100 theatres.

Rockstart, co-produced by Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. in association with Eros International Media Ltd., released in more than 2, 000 big screen all across the world on November 11, 2011. It has become the seventh largest first
day India opening in Bollywood’s history.

The movie earned Rs 50 net in the domestic collection centres in the first week of its release. On the first day of its release, the movie received a good response on the Box Office and collected Rs 10 crore. The movie includes
the major characters Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri has had an outstanding weekend generating Rs 33.6 crore net in three days.

It gathered the attention of audiences in non-festival season after Salman Khan’s ‘Ready’. However, later reports have also revealed that the profit of the movie dropped more than 40 per cent on Monday and there was seen a considerable
decline in the following weekends.

Rockstar has generated more than 11 crore at international Box Oddice in the first weekend and the producer of the film Imtiaz Ali also received a great response.

Other than Ranbir’s stunning performance, film is also a big attraction for the audiences for its soulful music given by AR Rehman.

“I feel a sense of gratification and calmness. We worked so hard on the film, so it eases us to see that people have liked it. I attribute their compliments for me as an actor to the character they connected with,” said Ranbir.

The main characters of Rockstar include debutant Nargis Fakhri, Piyush Mishra, Kumud Mishra and Aditi Rao. Ranbir is playing a totally different role in this movie and it might serve as landmark of his career.
