Political scenario of Afghanistan after 2014

After the incident of September 11th, 2001, United States of America and its allies attacked Afghanistan in search of Al-Qaeda leadership, without keeping in mind any of the ethical grounds of human rights, though it claims to
be a champion of morality in the world.

At the time of its Afghan invasion, the political and military analysts around the felt that being a superpower, US will sweep through Afghanistan and the allied forced will make sure that no more terrorism takes place from the Afghan land.

However, against all odds, the Afghan Taliban have resisted against the biggest force of this earth and at the present moment, even after a decade, more than 70 percent of Afghanistan is under the control of Taliban.

There is immense pressure within the US that the money of the tax-payers is being used in meaningless wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. This forced the President of America, Barrack Obama to announce last year that US forces will evacuate Afghanistan
by 2014.

The scenario after 2014 is going to be an interesting one and it remains to be seen that which political force would be able to form the government in Afghanistan. The present regime of Northern Alliance headed by the President Hamid Karzai
is surely no popular amongst the masses in the country and chances are high that Taliban would be able to take control of Afghanistan as it also has the backing of the public.

It is also in Pakistan’s interest that Taliban are able to form their government and this is the prime reason why Pakistan Army and the civil government is not ready to take an action against the Haqqani Network in the North Waziristan.

Pakistan wants to play an important role in the future politics of the Afghanistan as the neighboring country remains very important for the strategic interests of Pakistan. The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Hina Rabbani Khar has stated
that Pakistan wants a political solution to the Afghan problem and wants the prosperity of the neighboring country.

“We are part of the solution in Afghanistan and ready to play our due role in improving peace, security and development there. We will be supportive to a political solution of the Afghan problem,” said Khar.

However, the US has some other objectives and it wants India to lead the region of South Asia. It remains to be seen that how influential the US can be in forming a government of its choice, instead of the people of Afghanistan.
