Former Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has three political options

Since the former Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi had parted his way with Pakistan People Party (PPP) several rumours had swirled in the media about his next move. Some had given reports that Qureshi may join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI),
while others had reported that Shah might join Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N).

Still Shah Mehmood Qureshi hadn’t given any positive signal regarding his move, but he had made it known that he will announce his final decision in the procession of November 27, 2011. However, the latest in this regard is that Mr, Qureshi has three political
options at this time and he is giving thought to each one of them.

However, the ones who had been making claims that PTI would be Shah Mehmood’s first choice because it’s a new party and Qureshi could get a big seat in it, which means bigger responsibility. But, as per latest reports it is known that Shah Mehmood’s first
priority is the formation of a group that will comprise of rebel PPP politicians.

The second choice for the mighty Makhdoom of Multan will be to make a political arrangement with PML-N and last option for him is PTI, as per sources. As per the close well wishers of Shah Mehmood, a large number of the current members of the National Assembly
and Punjab Assembly are in support of former Foreign Minister.

The close aides of Shah Mehmood have also told that if they were able to attract a big number of sitting Punjab Assembly members than Qureshi could also think about forming an alliance with PML-N, if Mian Nawaz Sharif and his party offers him big post in
the party.      

If an alliance would not be formed with PML-N, then Shah Mehmood and his supporters will look forward to shake hands with PTI in order to form a coalition or join the party along with his other colleagues. However, Shah Mehmood will consider this option
only if PTI offers him a position not less than of central President along with significant powers.

Qureshi, who was earlier scheduled to meet with the rebels of PPP on November 21, 2011 had rescheduled their meeting. As now they meet on November 25^th after Shah Mehmood will conclude his meeting with Mian Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday.
