Taylor Swift wins three awards at the American Music Awards including the Artist of the Year

The American country pop singer and songwriter Taylor Swift became the highlight of the 39^th Annual Music Awards on Sunday after winning Artist of the year award for the second straight year.

The 21-year-old Taylor Swift also received the trophy for the favourite country female artist and favourite country album and won all three awards in which she was nominated for the American Music Awards.

 Some of the big names form the American music industry contended the young and sensational American singer which includes Adele, Lady Gaga and Katy Parry. However, Taylor swift overwhelmed them in all of the three categories.

Taylor was ecstatic on becoming the artist of the year second time in a row and declared that this is her best season since coming to the music industry in 2006.

"This is like one of the craziest things that has ever happened to me. I can’t tell you how much I’m really loving this fall season so far. This is so crazy. I ended up writing the record by myself, so the fact that you would honour it this way, you have
no idea what this means to me," Swift said.

The Canadian singer Justin Bieber, who won the major accolade in the last year’s American Music Award, failed to impress this time and was shortlisted in only one music category for the best Pop/ Rock Male Artist. But Bieber did entertain the crown during
the ceremony by singing a tune from his Christmas themed album ‘Under the Mistletoe’.

The songwriter and record producer Bruno Mars was nominated as the best Pop/Rock male artist while Adele won the third major award of the 2011 American Music Awards (AMA).
