Bahria University draws friendly match with FAST University 

Bahria University played their rivals FAST University in a friendly football match today. The match took place at the Naval Sports Complex, E-8, Islamabad. The match, which had been greatly looked forward to, ended in stalemate with both teams failing to
score.

Bahria and FAST have been rivals for a fairly long time now. Both Universities are concerned highly prestigious institutions in the capital of Pakistan. The two Universities have always been competitors in terms of sports, particularly football.

Previous matches between the teams have often produced good performances and great encounters. However, previous encounters between the two teams have resulted in fights as well. A fact that emphasized the importance of today’s fixture.

Both squads were fully equipped with star players and the squads were evenly matched. FAST University’s consisted of their star players Mehdi, Sameer, Muawiya, Tayyab and Adnan Meer among others.

Bahria University’s squad was also as ready as ever to face. They had their usual line-up of star players and were ready to face to their rivals with a full sense of motivation. Their squad consisted of Faizan ‘Janu’ Sameer, Ahmed Saeed, Ahmad Mehdi, Nahyan
Shehzada and Muhammad Naeem among others. These players have represented Bahria in quite a few tournaments and have managed to make a good name for themselves as they play for renowned local clubs.

The match was very heavily contested, and both teams were able to put up a very good show. With an equal amount of chances created by the both teams, the match was immensely fun to watch. A lot of attacking football took place as the match progressed.

The match started with the FAST team pressing Bahria to defend their goal. However, Bahria were able to threaten the FAST goal with magnificent counter attacking football. FAST’s prime chance came after 20 minutes when Muawiya struck a venomous strike towards
goal which was skilfully stopped by Nahyan Shehzada. Nahyan proved to be a giant between the post and was able to deny FAST a number a goals.

Bahria’s major chance in the first half came through Ahmad Mehdi, who, after receiving a great ball by Naeem, failed to convert a one-on-one opportunity.

The second half progressed in similar fashion, but this time, with Bahria creating far more chances than FAST. Bahria produced an amazing display of football and frequently created chances to score. However, they failed to find the net.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw, much to the dismay of the Bahria team, who had played excellent football throughout the game. After the whistle the players decided to have a penalty shootout just for fun. FAST were victorious in the shootout, and the match
ended in handshakes and friendly banter by both teams.
