MQM demands immediate action against Zulfiqar Mirza

One of the influential political parties of Sindh province, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), has sought immediate measures from the government and the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the ex-Home Minister, Zulfiqar
Mirza.

In a letter to President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, two senior leaders of MQM have pleaded to take immediate actions against Mirza for his blatant accusations on their party leadership. The former
minister has accused the MQM chairman, Altaf Hussain, as a ‘separatist’, indulged in treacherous activities to break the country in pieces.

Deputy conveners of the party’s coordination committee Dr Farooq Sattar and Anis Qaimkhani has termed Mirza’s statements about MQM chief as a plot hatched to defame the political leader among people. They have held Mirza responsible
for inciting hatred and lighting fire to ethnic riots in the province of Sindh, especially in Karachi.

Mirza held a press conference in August this year alleging Altaf Hussain, with the Holy Quran held on his head, that the MQM leader confined to him in a meeting in London that he was working on a plan to dismember Pakistan in collusion
with the United States. The ex-minister also claimed that Sindh’s Senior Minister, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, was also a witness to this confession of Altaf Hussain in that particular meeting in London. Mirza called the MQM chairman a traitor and held him responsible
for the entire target killing going on in Karachi, including other terrorist activities in the region.

MQM has dismissed all the allegations posted by Mirza in their press release this Wednesday, citing them as frivolous, baseless and utter lies. The press released stated that Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq has refuted the accusations in categorical
and unequivocal terms and have commented on a TV channel that, “Mr Hussain had never said anything, overtly or covertly, about a conspiracy to break up Pakistan and that Dr Mirza told a blatant lie and his allegation was unfounded and baseless.”

Farooq Sattar and Anis Qirmani have demanded the President and the Chief Justice of Pakistan to bring Zulfikar Mirza to justice for tarnishing the image of their leader and misleading people with blatant lies.
