The Outrageous and Unjustified Car Prices in Pakistan -Part 1

It is easy to see that the price of automobiles in Pakistan are outrageous and certainly unjustified by any authority that has control over the issue, including the government and firstly most responsible, the manufacturers.

Just as our nation is filled with people who wish to take home as much profit on their products as they possibly can and suck the blood out of their fellow human beings, it should not be surprising to see the same things in other businesses as well.

Car manufacturers are no exception to this rule either in our country, which is very disappointing to see indeed, especially when international companies which implement such strict standards for quality and care in other markets, take advantage of the lawless
situation over here.

The biggest problem is that it is not only one car manufacturer that deserves to be blamed, but all of the companies are taking huge cuts on cars that could easily be priced at nearly half of what they are at the moment.

There is not a single car company which can be actually called as logical in terms of their pricing scheme, which is certainly a disheartening thing for those people who wish to buy a car for themselves or their family but are compelled to compromise on
quality just on the basis of out of the affordability range.

The cars which are known to be starter cars and the least expensive in countries around the world are termed to be the luxury brands and star student vehicles just due to how much they cost, which is outright pathetic.

The car mafia might not feel any shame in this, including the people who head these companies at a national level and are supposed to be representing their brand image across Pakistan, but like to classify themselves as mosquitoes rather than business orientated
individuals who know that satisfying the customer is always first priority and as a matter of fact, it seems that in this country, the slogan is that the customer comes last.

Toyota, Honda and Suzuki are the most noticeable names not only in our market, but also around the world. The last brand might not be as popular as the first two, but all three are certainly known for their economical products in the market and are trusted
to provide the best possible price for the incomparable quality they provide.

In Pakistan, all three of these companies provide the exact opposite, which are the most expensive cars with absolutely no quality whatsoever and uncalled for third-party interference at every level which we see in the shape of premium which is taken on
these cars for immediate delivery.

These three companies should build such a reputation in their nation that people would actually like spending their money on their cars and not prefer to opt for other choices, but having nothing else comparable in the market, they force us to choose between
the extremely high priced low-range of cars they have to offer.

This is where the government comes into play.

The government, instead of taking money from the car mafia, should allow the import of other car brands like we see in India, enforce rules and regulations for the features every single car must possess in the country like we see in America where two airbags
at the least are mandatory in every single vehicle, and eliminate this monopoly of these three brands.

In the next part, we will discuss in-depth, how these car manufacturers are ripping the people of this nation off and see how each car compares with the same model available in other countries in terms of features, price and quality.

To be continued in Part 2….
