Bahria University Islamabad announces two teams for the 7-a-side tournament in MAJU

The stage is nearly set for one of Islamabad’s most eagerly anticipated interuniversity tournaments to take place and a number of top universities have announced their squads for the tournament; the latest being Bahria University.

With no entry or registration fee required, the tournament is attracting a considerably large number of entries, and the fact that it is a 7-a-side tournament instead of the full fledged 11-a-side means that some of the smaller universities will be able
to compete as well.

Starting off with the first team which sees Captain Faizan Sameer Malik leading an impressive line-up. Lining up alongside him is his vice captain, Musa Khan Afridi and the senior most member of the Bahria University squad, Areeb Khan.

The side will look to the experience of Musa and Areeb, who are veterans in the side and the flair of Faizan should do the rest when it comes to leading the rest of the relatively junior and inexperienced squad.

Naeem is a new entry to the BU squad and showed his potential in the five-a-side tournament which was part of the EME Olympiad earlier this year. Ahmed Saeed Butt is the university’s star striker and makes the list as well.

Another new comer is Iftikhar Butt who has shown tremendous promise and Talha Nadeem’s solid defensive skills are as fierce as the passion he plays with.

In goal, Nahyan Shahzada will be looking to do what he does best and that is keep the balls from sailing into the back of the net.

The second team which Bahria University have registered is under the captainship of the tactical maestro Muhammad Bilal Khan. He will have the’ Great Wall of Bahria’, Abbas Qasmi to hold defence for him along with resilient Ethesham-ul-Haq and another giant
by the name of Ammad Raja.

The theme of physical dominance continues with Fouad Ashraf who can take more than the odd push and still manage to stay on his feet and find the back of the net and Ahmed Mehdi is one of the deftest of playmakers in the capital city and will be looking
to set Fouad up for a number of goals.

Ali Swatti is also in the squad as the engine of the team and will be replaced as keeper by the return of Ahsan Minhas.

Team 1: Faizan Sameer Malik, Musa Khan Afridi, Areeb Khan, Naeem, Ahmed Saeed, Talha Nadeem, Nahyan Shehzada, Iftikhar Butt

Team 2: Muhammad Bilal Khan, Abbas Qasmi, Ahmed Mehdi, Fouad Ashraf, Ahsan Minhas, Ethesham-ul-Haq, Ali Swatti, Ammad Raja
