Disney and Pixxar to sell movies on Youtube

After year-long negotiations, YouTube have finally managed to reach an agreement with Disney and Pixar films to offer content of these companies in an online video channel.

The service will be offered through YouTube.com, where about 3,000 titles will be added and new movies such as Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland will also be incorporated.

Google has reported that other titles from Pixxar, such as Pirates of the Caribbean and the blockbuster, Cars will be one of the initial 100 titles that will be offered on the platform.

New titles from Disney and Pixar will be added to the existing YouTube films that include videos from NBC, Universal, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros.

The movies can be rented and viewed online on computer or through the use of YouTube. Rental prices will vary from $ 1 to $ 4 and must be seen between 24 and 48 hours after the initial rent.

This service addition continues with the strategy of YouTube to compete directly with other players in the market, such as iTunes or Netflix in the U.S.

The closing of negotiations comes after the two companies decided to create original videos and distribute them together. These two agreements will certainly increase the income of movie producers who have been falling behind in the digital race. The case
of Disney has to be highlighted here, who have seen their profit margins drop.
