What Zaviša Milosavljevi? should do in order to turn around Pakistani Football (Part 2)

With Zaviša Milosavljevi? taking up the reigns of the Pakistan National team, Newspakistan lists the most urgent problems the tactician will need to address in order to churn out good performances in his tenure in the 2nd part of the series.

Utilizing foreign talent

While Pakistan’s local players not maybe the most talented or the skilled footballers to grace the National team colours. Foreign stars such as Adnan Ahmed, Atif Bashir and Shabir Khan could be of real value to the Green Kickers.

Nearly of them ply their trade in European leagues and their addition into the squad will be a major boost to the squad’s quality. However in recent times, mostly notably during Tariq Lutfi’s tenure, these players were treated quite unfairly and their services
were utilized to the brim.

Lutfi refused to include them if they didn’t join the camp for a month and generally favoured his local players, despite the repercussions.

Zaviša will have to call-upon all the players at his disposal and the likes of Yousuf Butt, Amjad Iqbal and Zeeshan Rehman should also be called up so that at least on paper, the team is able to make an impression.

Arranging tours and friendly tournaments

While it is not the sole responsibility of the coach to ensure that the team is scheduled for friendlies, in a country like Pakistan, Zaviša will have to take the initiative.

Friendlies should be organized during FIFA match days, not only so that they can be officially recognized but also so that foreign players can be released by their respective clubs for fixtures.

Tournaments should also be organized during the summer so that Zavisa’s abilities can be put to the test at a proper stage.

Pakistani Football faces a lot of challenges in its ambitions to become one of the best in the world. But regardless of the lethargic system, our talent is quite skilled and can go places if given the right encouragement.

If Zaviša Milosavljevi? addresses all the issues listed above, there is no doubt that football in Pakistan can start to blossom.
