On his visit to Pakistan, Iraqi ambassador, Dr. Rushdi Al-Ani, encouraged the local businessmen to exploit the vast opportunities of profitable investment in Iraq. He invited Pakistani executives to enter into
joint ventures with their Iraqi counterparts and cash the early advantage of making the most of the business opportunities his country has to offer.

The Iraqi envoy was addressing to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Friday and presented the abundant prospects in the developing economy of Iraq. Al-Ani expressed that Iraq was in dire need of Pakistani manpower
to complete its construction, manufacturing and agriculture projects in the country and urged the attendants to be a part of it.

The envoy further told that Iraq also required help of Pakistan in education, health and engineering sectors after the destructions of the American invasion on the country. Al-Ani invited Pakistani educationalists, doctors and
engineers to avail this great opportunity in his oil-rich country. He announced that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Sayed Yousuf Raza Gilani, will be making a visit to Iraq in near future and a number of trade and economy agreements will be signed between
the two countries.

The envoy encouraged the president of LCCI to arrange a sector-specific delegation for Iraq to help new investors get the knowhow of the facilities being offered by the Iraqi government. He believes such steps can boost up the
bilateral trade between the two countries to a great deal. The president of LCCI, Irfan Sheikh, cited that Pakistan and Iraq were the members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and a close ties exit between the two nations since 1947. However,
lesser improvement has been recorded in the fields of trade and commerce between the two countries and it is the perfect time for the two sides to develop deep bonds in the particular fields to support their countries economy.

Irfan Sheikh further told that the LCCI is eager to play the vital role in promoting trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Iraq, including the fields of textile, edibles, wheat and rice, auto spare parts, marble,
medicines, surgical items and footwear.
