Pakistani President, Asif Ali Zardari has made it clear to the U.S that government will not tolerate another incident similar to the Mohmand Agency strike by NATO. He also added that the decision to ask the U.S. to vacate the Shamsi Airbase was taken with
unanimous consensus.

The President was talking to U.S Ambassador, Cameron Munter, at the Presidency on Tuesday in Islamabad. The meeting lasted more than an hour in which the situation arising from the Mohmand Agency attack and the rising tension between the two countries were
discussed.

Mr. Zardari insisted rhetorically that Pakistan’s contribution in the war against terrorism should not be patronized as a weakness.

“If the US does not have respect for Pakistan’s interests and sovereignty, it will deteriorate relations between the two countries”, he added.

He then went on saying that Pakistan had sacrificed precious assets, both human and financial, in the war against terror, but the government, army and the public have raised eyebrows on the malicious Mohmand Agency attack.

Further adding to his statement, the president reiterated: “The government will not compromise on national security and sovereignty. If such incidents are repeated in the future, Pakistan reserves the right to defend itself. The country wants to maintain
good relations with the US.”

Meanwhile, Munter expressed grief sorrow over the killings of Pakistani soldiers in the NATO attack and ensured President Zardari that the U.S would extend its full cooperation in this regard.

The US government and NATO officials have already extended their hand towards Pakistan for a joint investigation of the upheaval incident.
