Liquefied Petroleum Gas prices hike by Rs1, 144 per ton

Abdul Hadi Khan, Chairman All Pakistan Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Distributors Association, revealed on Wednesday that LPG prices have been hiked by Rs1, 144 per ton due to raise in its import price which in international market
has risen by $13 and now rests at $805 per ton.

One ton LPG will now cost Rs98, 000 per ton in the country. As a result of this increase, about Rs 2/Kg will be added to the current price of LPG prevailing in the domestic markets of Pakistan, thus for an 11.8 kilo cylinder one
will have to pay Rs23 more and 45.4 kg cylinder will cost Rs63 more.

In other news, Pakistani government has announced an increase in Oil prices on Wednesday. OGRA (The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) requested the government not implement increase in prices of petrol and High Speed Diesel (HSD)
but Finance Ministry refused the suggestion stating that it could affect revenue collection on account of PL.

The new rates will be applicable from Thursday, December 1. As per the new rates, the prices of Petrol will be Rs87.96 per litre meaning an increase of by 55 paisa per litre from their previous state.

Kerosene oil will now be sold at a price of Rs89.24 meaning an increase of Rs3.48 per litre. While Light Diesel Oil (LDO) has seen an increase of Rs4.79 and will now be available domestically at Rs86.78 per litre.

National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources had strongly opposed any increase in the price of HSD. According to countries National Assembly, any increase in price of HSD would affect the agriculture
sector and also cause rise in inflation. However, the government did not care for that and went forward with their plans.

HSD prices have been raised by Rs4.79 per litre the new price of high speed diesel is now Rs98.94 per litre.

The selling prices of High Octane Blending Component (HOBC) are still the same and currently stand at Rs106.72 per litre.
