Air-conditioned CNG Bus Service in Lahore

In order to provide a high-class public transport service, the Punjab government has launched a CNG Bus Service in the provincial metropolis. However, it is facing severe issues in the head of gas load management plan.

The service providers have threatened to discontinue the newly launched project if their vehicles were not exempted from weekly gas holidays, as the authorities promised. They are very much right in their grouse.

The service operators will face huge financial loses if their vehicles remain in-situ for 24 hours due to gas shortage. A large number of middle-class commuters will deprive of decent and well-off bus service in case the newly launched CNG bus service closes
its operations.

It is expected that the situation will be further deteriorated as the gas supply is being diverted from industry to power generating companies. One of the most nearing solutions is to start work promptly on the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project.

It is worth highlighting here that Iran has reportedly completed the construction of gas pipeline project on their end but all that required to was its completion inside the Pakistani areas. The delay on this project will only increase miseries of the already
hapless masses.

Furthermore, we have to review every way to come out from this deteriorating situation as soon as we can. Our energy demands have greatly enhanced in the last few decades where population increased with the phenomenal explosion, while our economy was not
upgraded according to the needs.

We failed to work accordingly in reducing the gas shortage despite discovery of new gas reservoirs and sites in the country.

Similarly we are doing in the Thar coal reserves that are lying undeveloped and of no use for the country. It is pertaining to mention here that Thar coal reservoirs can be one of the world’s largest sources of energy building.

It is no wonder that the country’s economy has been pushed to brink during these years of inaction. The situation reached to a point that the country has not enough resources to supply gas to its domestic users. The gas holidays are just means to increase
miseries of masses.

The CNG buses must be exempted from the gas load-shedding so as to keep the life going on smoothly in the provincial metropolis.

The federal as well as the provincial governments will have to start work on war footing speed, using all the options to restore the power sector, if they really want to save the country from upcoming darkness.
