Nawaz Sharif terms decision to boycott Bonn Conference right

Lahore: December 8, PML (N) leader Nawaz Sharif has expressed his content with the government’s decision to boycott the Bonn Conference in Germany. He was of the view that Pakistan’s absence from the event marked its protest over
the outrageous attacks by the NATO forces on Pakistani check posts in Mohmand agency in an appropriate fashion.

Nawaz Sharif, the president of Pakistan Muslim League (N) also urged the government to keep the NATO supply line suspended unless a brief apology is offered. He said, “The government should continue to take this stand”.

Earlier, Pakistan government had decided to boycott the Bonn conference and to suspend the supply line to the NATO forces following the attack by the ISAF on Pakistan soldiers culminated in leaving 24 of them martyred and many
of them severely injured.

The Bonn conference, convened by the Afghan government hoped to set an agenda for rebuilding a new Afghanistan after abandoning of the NATO forces. However, in the absence of four the key players – Pakistan, Iran and Taliban, it
was destined to achieve nothing.

After the outrageous attacks on Pakistani posts, instead of feeling sorry over the incident, the American government is striving hard to give justification over its brutal act. Moreover, during the conference, instead of acknowledging
Pakistan’s role and sacrifices in this faceless war, the trio of India, America and Afghanistan found the opportunity to malign the country further. Provided with this sort of behavior, Pakistan definitely had no point in heading to Germany and committing
for more sacrifices of its people in a war that never belonged to it.

The experts are of the view that it is high time Pakistan came out of all the verbal and written contracts with American which bind it to provide support in the US war in Afghanistan. The suggestion by the independent analysts
seem well justified as so far, Pakistan has only earned loss out of this war which has cost the country over 40,000 lives of its civilians and soldiers. On the basis of the history of relationships Pakistan has had with America, one can predict that the US
will keep on deceiving one of its largest ally in its war and will never get rid of its habit to back stab its friends.
