Bollywood’s ace director Karan Johar always comes up with a different subject and story in his movies. It has been a long journey for big man from making candyfloss movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to My Name is Khan.
And he does want to rest on his laurels, saying that he wants to capture urban Indian youth. For that reason, Karan has decided to make another youthful movie, ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’, starting Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
Talking about his new project, he said, “And that’s exactly why I thought of making films like Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and I Hate Luv Stories. I understand that this is an age where we are catering to the urban Indian youth. And I wanted to capture that.”
Shahrukh Khan and Kajol have always been Karan’s favourite pair, as he as produced number of films with the duo. But now, Imran seems to be the latest blue-eyed boy of Karan’s company, Dharma Productions. He, however, dismissed such reports and said that
he always casted people on merit.
“That’s not true. I’ve a lot of love and respect for the people I work with. I sign actors based on merit, and as per their suitability for a character. Imran is great to work with, no two ways about it. He had that dedication towards work during the making
of I Hate Love Stories. He has the ability to infuse a spark into the characters he portrays,” added the veteran filmmaker.
When asked about Kareena who is in the lead role in his upcoming flick, the 39-year-old shared, “Kareena is, and will always be, special. We go back a long way. Kareena was busy with Bodyguard and her other projects when we approached her for Ek Main Aur
Ekk Tu. But, Shakun Batra (the director) and I were adamant that we wanted her on board. Despite a packed schedule, Kareena didn’t turn me down. I’m still wondering how she actually managed to take time out for this film!”
His magnum opus Agneepath and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu are lined up for the release and Karan is hoping of a bright year ahead.
