New generation is deprived of a golden childhood!

The World has definitely developed a lot, but for my liking it has developed a bit too much, especially for the kids ruining their most fascinating part of life – Childhood!

The most disturbing thing to see now-a-days is that kids don’t behave according to their age. They have all the knowledge of everything happening in the world, whereas we used to know only the stuff PTV told us at 9pm. They are missing the essence of a young
pure soul because the internet has polluted them and matured them ahead of time.

Play station and Xbox might be the teenager’s best friends but it’s definitely not as amazing as playing a video game at the market and bashing other kids in Tekken 3, King of Fighter and Street fighter, classic arcade games; standing tall  when triumphing
over one another and seeing here and there with that ‘King look’.

New generation is very fast in clicking and searching their favourite stuff on internet, streaming the videos they want and enjoying their leisure time on personal computers. This might seem interesting but it kills the feeling of waking up early in the
morning and watching cartoons before school time; challenging friends to races at the ground, or rushing towards home before sunset.

Kids these days have DSL connections and iPhones to use internet and stay connected to each other, but the feel of successfully connecting to a dial-up connection and jumping on the seat when MSN signed in, is absolutely mesmerizing. Stealing papa’s 3310
to play snake xenzia and trying our level best to not touch the sideline of the screen while keeping an eye at the surroundings to see if someone caught you with the phone is something that brings a lot of sweet childhood memories!

The concept of outdoor games is totally alien to the new generation, whereas we used to play hours and hours of cricket in streets even with the blazing sun on our backs, not getting tired. During exams ‘ping pong ball’ and clipboards were used to play this
sport.

There was no concept of dating at school time. Girls were our worst enemies and both genders sat in two separate rows because each thought the other to be inferior. Teachers were given utmost respect and parent-teacher meetings (PTM) were our worst nightmares.
Today everyone sits together and parents don’t even know about any PTM at schools; least concerned about their child’s grooming.

The ‘Sports Day’ was organized and parents were called upon to witness their children participating in cycling, sack race, spoon-potato race, three-legged race etc. These days sports day is  not organized anywhere at mass level, private schools are opened
in bungalows, where there is no place to  take part in any extracurricular activities.

Mischievous experience of stealing oranges from someone’s farm and watching ‘Ainak wala jin’ with rigorous steadiness is something the new generation is unaware off. They only know how to order fast food and experience play station and xbox.

Childhood is the best part of our life because it contains so many memorable moments that still bring a smile to our faces. Kids these days have nothing to cherish in their middle and old age. We have stories to tell our offspring, but these kids will have
nothing to talk to their next generation about. They are using facebook 24/7 and have everything available to them at one click. There is no charm left for them to strive for something because they are so lethargic to even step out of their closets and experience
the world around them.

They are definitely deprived a majestic, mischievous, playful, cherishing and in short, a ‘Golden Childhood’!
