YouTube helps schools with specific site

Continuing their policy to facilitate consumers and help out educations institutes, Google has launched a new service for educational institutes.

The internet giant wants to avoid concerns about contents their video website, YouTube, and has come to the aid of schools to prevent students accessing prohibited content. As a result they have created a YouTube site, specifically designed to help out school.

As explained in their official blog, the industry titans have tried to make the service such that students can avoid the distraction of vast amounts of online videos. The schools had earlier decided to close access to YouTube and restrict their students
to thousands of videos of educational content.

With this service, schools can customize the content that can be accessed by students. All schools can access the entire contents of YouTube EDU, but teachers and administrators also have access to YouTube.com and create playlists of videos that will be
available in their academic centres.

Teachers and administrators of schools will have access to YouTube.com and they can watch videos, but students do not have access to the site and can only view videos on YouTube EDU. This will be the content that would be added by the school. All comments
and related videos sections are off, and the search will be limited to the videos on YouTube EDU.

For this use YouTube have taken the responsibility of training. Thus far, around 300 schools have made video lists organized by subject.

In the blog where the announcement for the service was made showed images of a teacher entering a classroom television to watch a video. Now, these videos can be seen from the student’s computer delimiting choice of it and avoiding general navigation on
YouTube to distract attention.

Google is aware that there are all kinds of YouTube videos online, but will prevent access to students so that they do not fail to miss the chance to learn photosynthesis or lectures on ancient Greece.

In order to be eligible for the service, schools must register for the platform to create their own selections.
