MQM reacts over Afaq Ahmed’s release; Farooq Sattar threatens government with ‘million march’

Multan (December 17), Deputy Convener of the Coordination Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr. Farooq Sattar said expressed his anger and discomfort over government’s inability to pull the country out of mal-governance
and a poor economic situation and said his party was going to launch a ‘million march’ towards Islamabad if matters were not to witness any improvement.

While addressing a press conference in Multan press club, Sattar said that protection of status quo and heredity in politics was going to pose serious threats to the country’s future. While expressing his government’s resolve to
end heredity in politics, Sattar said, “We want to end heredity politics once and for all”.

Expressing the resolve for bringing change in the country and to end heredity in Pakistan politics, he said, “People under the leadership of Altaf Hussain will march toward Islamabad if the political and economical problems are
not resolved”.

The content of the press conference by the deputy convener of the coordination committee of MQM shows that once again the party has started uttering anti-government slogans, primarily in reaction to the release of Mohajar Qaumi
Movement’s leader Afaq Ahmed.

MQM has always been known for doing politics of self interests. It starts seeing everything ‘fine and good’ when offered by a handsome bate on part of the government, however, it does not take long before harping upon the ‘interests
of the people’ if things seem going out of hand.

In the past, the party has been exposed due to its dozens of U-turns in the country’s politics. It has been leaving the cabinet and the government in the interest of the common people, and has been joining hands with the ruling
lot in the still larger interest of the poor people of the country.

Now, what people are looking forward to is that if the government once again offers a good deal to MQM, what would be the stand and content of the Karachi based Party’s leaders in its upcoming rally in Multan.
