Up: One of the best computer-animated movies

Though it’s been almost 2 years since ‘Up’ was premiered on May 29, 2011 in North America, it is still considered as one of the best computer-animated movies ever made by Hollywood.

‘Up’, which is a comedy-adventure film, was produced by Pixar/Disney, directed by Pete Docter and scripted by Pixar veteran Bob Peterson. The film saw Edward Asner, Christopher Plummer, Bob Peterson and
Jordan Nagai featuring their note-perfect voices in it.

This movie is basically based on a widower, Carl Fredricksen, who always wanted to take her wife on the trip of her dreams in South America and an exotic ‘lost land’ called Paradise Falls. However, since
he failed to fulfil his wife’s dream, he makes up a plan in the old age to take his house over there with a bunch of balloons. In the meantime, he also finds a plucky young boy Russell who joins him in his journey.

The first 20 minutes of the movie shows how Carl meets his wife, Elle, in the 1920s when both of them were in their childhood.

In the movie Elle is shown inspired by a dashing explorer named Charlez Muntz, who shocks the world with his discovery of Paradise Falls before he returns there on his zeppelin never to comeback. Carl
and Elle both become good friends of as a result to which they get married later on.

The way the relationship between Carl and Elle, which is full of love and emotions, is shown is amazing. It leaves the viewer totally spellbound as it’s a masterful scene.

The little boy in the film, Russell, is shown as a Wilderness Scout who somehow bumps into Carl in order to get a merit badge for ‘assisting the elderly’ but he ends up becoming Carl’s partner in his journey.
The movie contains many hilarious scenes in it alongside some seriousness involved. It is a suitable movie for both children and adults, as it has elements of imagination, adventure, humour and heart.

Overall ‘Up’ is lovely movie to watch and if somehow you have not watched it as of yet, it should be the next one on your list.
