The mystery surrounding President Asif Ali Zardari’s arrival has come to an end after he reached Karachi in the early hours of Monday. His arrival was kept a secret as his protocol for landing was in place at both Islamabad and Karachi, however his place
landed in Karachi.
His arrival was heavily welcomed by the high ranked officials of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), who gathered at Bilawal House. The initial reports of his arrival pointed that President’s plane will be landing in afternoon but it landed around 1am at the PAF
His flight companions included his daughter Aseefa and petroleum minister, Dr Asim Hussain. Shortly after his arrival, he was escorted straight to Bilawal house, where the acting President, Farooq Naek and President’s sister, Faryal Talpur received him.
Undoubtedly, President’s security was very tight and was supervised by Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan. He had appointed additional rangers outside the Bilawal house and to other parts of the city.
While talking to the media, Manzoor Wassan said, “These pundits on TV channels were predicting the president would never come.”
In reply to a question regarding President’s unannounced arrival, President’s spokesman, Farhatullah Babar said, “president is now fine and the doctors have given him permission to travel, but we cannot disclose his schedule with media.”
Several sources revealed that after proper rest, President Zardari is going to hold some important meetings before he leaves for Islamabad.
“He can hold meetings with party leaders to dispel the impression that he is suffering from serious illness and afraid of recent developments in the wake of the memo case,” a senior PPP official said.
It is also said that President will go to Larkana on December 27, for the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto.
He went to Dubai on December 6 for the heart treatment and was discharged from city’s American Hospital on Wednesday. Nevertheless, after being released from the hospital, he decided to stay at his residence in Dubai. He experienced numbness and twitching
