Asif Ali Zardari, PPP are undecided to file reply in the Supreme Court; says Federal Law Minister

Federal Minister for Law and Justices Senator Maula Bakhsh Chandio said that neither Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) nor President Asif Ali Zardari took decision thus far to submit reply in the Supreme Court on controversial memogate scandal.

Chandio while talking to the media said that relaxation is provided in the constitution for submitting replies or skipping attendance in the court if a person is ill or abroad.

“President had both the relaxations and no need to make any prediction over that,” the law minister maintained.

Chandio stated that elements spreading rumors and creating the environment of uncertainty have disappointed, as Asif Ali Zardari are in Pakistan.

“President Zardari will continue work for strengthening democratic system in the country and to resist all conspiracies against the masses’ mandate, he vowed.

He asked that how Article 6 of the Constitution could be applied against President Zardari as it was even not imposed against the dictators. “President did not do any unconstitutional act,” he said.

Accusing PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif for working against democracy, he charged him with helping the forces, which wanted to wrap up the system. “Nawaz Sharif is helping those who are hatching a conspiracy to send the elected government home,” he held.

Chandio said that the government and the military establishment were on the same page and PML-N’s wish of mid-term elections would be shattered.

The law minister said that there would be no benefit to the PML-N if any unconstitutional step is taken in the country. The PML-N should admit the supremacy of the parliament and respect the mandate of masses instead of seeking an opportunity by foul
play, Chandio advised.

He said that masses would bring Nawaz Sharif in the court of justice for helping undemocratic forces against the Parliament.

On the other hand PML-N spokesperson Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan said that the government should resign on moral grounds because it has lost the masses’ support.

He claimed that there was a huge gap between the government and the military establishment. “Now working relationship is impossible between the two after the replies submitted by the military leadership in the Supreme Court in memo case,” the spokesperson
said.

He said the only solution to avoid any confrontation between the states’ institution are elections. Mushahid Ullah criticised the incumbent saying the PML-N wanted to save the democratic process however; issues of national security and public interests
could not be ignored.
