G.I. Joe: Retaliation – an epic summer 2012 blockbuster

G.I. Joe Retaliation is an upcoming science fiction flick which is set to release on June 29^th, 2012. It is based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe’s comic, toy and media franchises. This film is a sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and is distributed
by Paramount Pictures.

Continuing from the original movie’s end, Zartan (who is disguised as the President of the United States) farmes all G.I. Joe operatives as traiters and wipes most of them out. The few left are Roadblock, Snake Eyes, Flint, Duke and Lady Jaye. Zartan has
all the world leaders under Cobra’s control, plots warheads headed towards innocent populaces. Storm Shadow and Firefly are also under the newly release Cobra Commander. The few outnumbered G.I. Joe’s left are the only one left to expose the truth and stop
Cobra from taking over the world.

Dwayne Johnson is starring as Roadblock while Channing Tatum is reprising his role as Duke. Other cast includes Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park and Arnold Vosloo.

The movie is written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and edited by Roger Barton and Jim May.  

In January 2010, the writers of Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, were hired to write the script for this sequel. It was originally titled G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes, which was later denied by Reese. Stephen Sommers was originally going to return as
director of the sequel but Paramount Pictures announced in February 2011 that Chu will direct the sequel. In July, 2011, the sequel’s name was revealed to be G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Filming began in August 2011 in Louisiana and next month a casting call sheet was leaked which revealed that Cobra Commander would appear in this sequel. Snake Eyes pet wolf, Timber, would also be appearing in the sequel as revealed by Ray Parker.

On 12^th December, 2011, the premier trailer was released on Youtube exclusively from Machinima.com.

The original part top the North American Box Office with an estimated $54.7 million. The makers are expecting the sequel to perform even better.

G.I. Joe Retaliation will be an epic blockbuster movie next year and should be a must watch for everyone.
