Hello… … I am Imran Khan from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

“Assalam-o-Alaikum, This is Imran Khan speaking. How are you? I am coming to your city to bring everyone together on December 25 at Mazar-e-Quaid for a peace rally. I hope that you can break all the shackles and take part because at this rally we need to
make the beginnings of a new Pakistan. I will be waiting. Thank you.”

Tens of thousands, hailing from Karachi, are receiving this type of vocal and written messages on their mobile phones and landline numbers. It looks that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is making all efforts to make the Karachi rally successful, particularly
with the use of telecommunication sector.

Similar marketing tactics were firstly used in Lahore, on October 30, and the PTI felt that this way produced wonderful results in mobilizing the masses, particularly the youth. The party also hired the services of cellular companies to make the campaign
more successful and fruitful.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the regulatory body of the cellular services, clarified that it cannot bar PTCL (Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited) or any other company from doing its work until it receives complains.

PTA’s Information Director, Colonel (Retd) Muhammad Younus, was of the opinion that it was a commercial activity and they have nothing to do with such activities. The mobile companies are sending messages to all those who are using their services, he added.

People, even belonging to different areas of Pakistan, who are currently residing in the metropolis city, are also receiving such type of invitational messages.

“I received a text message on Tuesday from PTI Chairman Imran Khan and he invited me to his party’s National Unity Convention on December 25,” Amjad Ali stated. He belonged to Gilgit and is presently studying at the University of Karachi.

Another student informed that they were invited twice, once he received an invitation text on her mobile number while secondly they received an invitational call from PTI’s chief on landline.

It seems that the PTI is being successful in their idea of youth’s mobilizing as youngsters are forwarding text messages to each other, convincing for the convention.

According to an official of the party, around 300, 000 people will be receiving the recorded messages of PTI’s chief on their landline numbers.

It is vital to mention here that this figure is about half of the total landline numbers registered in Karachi. The December 25
will decide whether the PTI succeeded in their unique type of idea or not.
