Makhdoom Javed Hashmi all set to join hands with Imran Khan

The chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan had made a huge claim of bringing some really big names in Pakistan politics into his party and while he got ridiculed for making a seemingly impossible-to-fulfil declaration, it turns out that he
sure knew what he was talking about. After the announcement of former Pakistan People’s Party minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and former foreign minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri to join PTI, reliable sources have revealed that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N)
is about to incur a heavy loss as its minister Makhdoom Javed Hashmi is all set to part ways with his current party to become part of Imran Khan’s team.

All the formalities have been taken care of and a formal announcement of Hashmi’s resignation from PML-N and decision to join PTI is expected in a few days. There is a high probability that the seasoned politician will make his decision public during PTI’s
rally in Karachi on Quaid-e-Azam Day, i.e. December 25.

The relations between the Sharif brothers and Hashmi had been pretty strained for the last few months. Despite giving his all for the sake of the party, the 63-year-old Hashmi was constantly getting.

Hashmi had also gone ahead and openly criticised some of the policies of his party leadership in the recent past and expressed his disappointment with the weak role of PML-N in pressurising the current government in ensuring good governance while sitting
on the opposition benches in the parliament.

Hashmi had been in touch with Khan over the last few months and shown his interest in joining his party. The question about joining PTI had been thrown at him during many talk-shows, but Hashmi always kept mum on the issue.

Hashmi has a vast experience in politics. He started his career during his university days as a member of Jamaat-e-Islami’s student wing Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT), the same student wing that was involved in getting Khan arrested during his trip to Punjab
University new campus a couple of years ago. Hashmi had also served in General Zia-ul-Haq’s cabinet during the 80s.

It would be interesting to see what the members of PML-N will have to say about Hashmi after he joints PTI.
