Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows topped the Box Office

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is a sequel to the hit 2009 film, Sherlock Holmes which is based on the character of the same name created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is a British-American mystery film directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Joel Silver,
Lionel Wigram and Susan Downey.

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law reprise their role as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. The script is inspired by Conan Doyle’s The Final Problem but it is an independent story, rather adaptation.

The $125 million budgeted movie centres on Holmes and Dr. Watson who join forces to outwit and bring their adversary, Professor James Moriarty (starred by Jared Harris). Moriarty – a new criminal mastermind is not only Holmes’ Intellectual equal but his
capacity for evil, give him an edge over the renowned detective.

Warner Bros. Sherlock Holmes rocked this weekend’s Box Office. It opened with $62.3 million and went on to earn over half a billion dollars worldwide. Furthermore, it will drew audiences to theatres with $40 million this weekend.

The flick was announced right after the success of the original. On October 2010, Downey Jr. and Law were seen rehearsing a fight scene as shooting took place in Richmond Park, in south-west London. Scenes were also shot at Didcot Railway Centre and at Victoria
Bridge, which is part of the Severn Valley Railway. This year, filming took place at Hampton Court Palace and in Greenwich at the Royal Naval College.

The soundtrack of the 128 minutes flick was composed by Hans Zimmer. It was released on 13th December, 2011.

The movie received average ratings with the review aggregator site, Rotten Tomatoes stated, “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is a good yarn thanks to its well-matched leading men but overall stumbles duplicating the well-oiled thrills of the original.”

Sherlock Holmes is a treat for mystery lovers and should be on everyone’s radar.

In second place of the Box Office, Fox’s Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked lies.  Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol on the other hand fell to number three.
