Remembering Benazir Bhutto

Benazir Bhutto, without a doubt, was not only one of the greatest leaders to be seen in Pakistan, but throughout the world indeed. Only a few have been born in history with the capabilities and talent she had and being a woman in an Eastern world to grow
up and lead the masses, she was certainly one of a kind.

The daughter of Quaid-e-Awaam (Leader of the People), Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, and two-time Prime Minister, Benazir had gained the emotional attachment of the people unlike any other individual in the history of this great nation.

It seems only like yesterday she was assassinated on that cold day of December 27, 2007, but today marks the fourth year of her death anniversary. Despite the number of years that have passed by, nobody has seemed to still come to the fact that she is not
with us anymore and no matter how many times you hear it, it is something you do not want to believe.

In her premiership, Benazir was an extremely brave woman and a role model for not only the female living in Pakistan but for the male counterparts as well. There was not a single day she did not fight for the rights of her people against external as well
as internal pressure, which resulted in the fall of both of her governments by incapable army generals.

Army generals would meet her with their aides and secretaries by their side while she would sit along in front of them like a lion facing a pack of hyenas. Even a ruthless dictator like Zia-ul-Haq, who had her father hanged due to his immense popularity
and rising power in the country, could not face her one-on-one and kept her in prison for nearly a decade.

Living a life for the nation, Benazir Bhutto was and still remains an ample example of a person who is ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of democracy and the people’s rights. Fighting with knowledge and words was something that exemplified her charismatic
abilities while the men with guns could do nothing better than to use force and manpower against her.

Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, you are our leader and will live forever in the hearts of the people. Those that were against you and your father were made an example out of and are no more along with having been erased from the history of this world while
you have been immortalised.
