Android phones for your home

Archos, a French Smartphone manufacturer has announced they will release an Android phone that can be used only at home or in offices as a landline. The new device in fact does not even have a sim card slot.

The device is called a Smart Home Phone and has a 3.5 inch touch screen, wifi and has a camera for video conferencing.  Smart Home Phone will have the Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system installed in it, according to Numerama blog. However, the technology
blog revealed that it will be difficult to upgrade the OS to the next version.

Smart Home Phone has the same interface as any smart phone as well as their features. It also allows to easily integrate contacts from another phone using the integrated applications. The device is compatible with any ADSL and uses the DECT protocol.

In any case, the device can be ordered online from Archos starting from December 20. The company has set an initial price at 130 Euros.
