Russell Brand seeks divorce from Katy Perry – Celebrity News

As it is a common phenomenon that celebrity marriages do not last for long, the American pop star Katy Perry and British comedian Russell Brand, who got married in October 2010, have decided to part their ways. It has been said that Brand didn’t approve
of Perry’s partying lifestyle and also never liked her friends such as fun-loving Barbadian singer Rihanna. New claims suggest that Russell told Perry to ‘tone it down’ but the couple could not come to common grounds, which further spoiled the situation for
them. It is also said that they had a massive fight earlier this month.

The couple had planned Christmas together and Perry was expected to jet her family in a private plane over to the UK to celebrate but apparently there was some change of plan.

Both of them celebrated this Christmas at different places and stopped wearing their wedding rings recently. Rumours already spread like jungle fire as they celebrated Christmas some 7,000 miles apart – Russell spent the festive day in Cornwall while the
Teenage Dream girl spent her day on the beach with her friends in Hawaii.

Meanwhile, Russell Brand called a press conference where both of them were together. Russell had a good laugh on his face and said that he still ‘adores’ his wife Katy Perry despite filing for divorce from her on Thursday, December 29 after just 14 months
of marriage. He also revealed a sort of sentimental thoughts that the couple were ending their marriage, but said he hoped that they would remain friends.

Reportedly, Russell’s legal team filed court documents at the Superior Court in Los Angeles on Thursday citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’ The divorce documents, which refer to Perry by her original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, show there are ‘community
property assets,’ suggesting there may not be a pre-nuptial agreement in place. However, it does not list a specific date of separation.
