Samsung is also expected to come up with a new tablet with the latest ICS operating system. That however, remains only rumour but all odds go in the favour of the announcement. Google on the other hand is expected to release more updates for the compatibility
of 4G network.

Verizon stunned the audience in the 2011 conference with its fourth generation LTE (Long-Term Evolution) network for mobile devices, smartphones in particular. However, current span of the 4G network is quite shrunk and the company is expected to announce
more cities to include into the fold for wider 4G reception areas. With a 4G network, a smartphone can receive bigger packets of internet data on a much wider bandwidth. In a nutshell, the device becomes a WiMax device that can receive and send heavier data
at much faster speeds.

Microsoft announced that the 2012 CES will be their last. The company however, is expected to announce more updates on the Windows 8 operating system that is allegedly hitting the consumer market somewhere this year. The Windows 8 is a tablet-oriented operating
system that has the capability of running both on a tablet and a personal computer. The beta-edition was released earlier in 2011 which made some big headlines in the field of technology.

Moreover, the Windows Phone 7 operating system is yet to see an LTE device. However, Nokia has agreed to develop the first of their LTE phones compatible with Verizon’s 4G network. Nokia earlier in October released the first of their smartphones decorated
with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800. Both phones did not receive a great response but for a sinking ship the two releases served as the life boats.

The 2011 CES was rocked by the dual-core processor in mobile phones, the Motorola Atrix in particular but the NVIDIA Tegra dual-core chip was adopted by a number of other smartphones latter in the year. The 2012 version is expected to see the quad-core processor
in smartphones. The very semi-conductor was incorporated by Asus in their tablet the Transformer Prime.
