An impatient demand for fresh polls

While many parties are making demands for early elections, the question is that why not they wait for another year to go the vehicle of democracy on a right track. The demanders also suggest agitation against the government and a technocrat setup on line
of the Bangladesh model.

Although the situation is worst in the present scenario on many fronts, this argument is not valid and even self serving that the government has lost its mandate. The constitution does not foresee fresh polls if the opposition observes that the masses are
despondent with the incumbent.

At the same time, the statement of PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif about setting up military courts in Karachi to curb crime is distressful. The National Assembly and the Sindh legislature condemned the proposal rejecting it in all cases.

As Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani put it, there is no place for military courts in a democracy. The Supreme Court also ruled out the possibility of such courts, terming it a clear violation of the Constitution.

In spite of the slow movement of cases in the civilian court, the only solution lies in the improvement of the working of normal courts then in setting up an equivalent judiciary.

We should strengthen the existing system in which notorious criminals sometimes get themselves freed by influencing the witnesses and the prosecutors even sometimes the courts.

Military courts should have been set up across the country, particularly in Punjab, to try the target killers if it is the only solution. Terrorists in Punjab continue to benefit from the negligence of the system, annoying the law enforcement agencies that
nab them by putting the lives of their personnel in sever hazard.

It can be disastrous if continue to show impatience to get things immediately and in line with the one’s individual agenda. A leader or a political party may work as a tool in the hands of those who do not see the democratic system in progress.

In order to continue the apple cart, Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan should avoid taking any rushed decision.

The better option in favor of democracy is to allow the government to completes its five-year constitutional term and remove it with votes of the masses.
