The Hangover Part II – An exceptional comedy flick

Todd Phillips’ The Hangover Part II is a 2011 comedy flick which was released on May 26^th, 2011. It stars an ensemble cast of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha. The movie is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and
written by Scot Armstrong and Craig Mazin.

The film centres on four buddies, Phil (Cooper), Stu (Helms), Alan (Galifianakis) and Doug (Bartha) as they travel to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After consequences of their Las Vegas trip, Stu takes no chances and opts for a safe brunch. However, things
do not go as they planned and resulting in another bad hangover with no memories of the previous night.  

The $80 million budgeted movie is a sequel to 2009’s The Hangover. It bagged $254,464,305 in the US and Canada, and $327,000,000 from the rest of the world. On its opening weekend, it earned $177.8 million, which was the highest-grossing worldwide for a
comedy film, taking the record from The Simpsons Movie ($170.9 million).

However, the 102 minutes movie received generally negative reviews from critics. Review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes sited it a score of 35 percent based on 223 reviews from critics with an average rating of 5 out of 10. It stated, “A crueller, darker,
raunchier carbon copy of the first instalment, The Hangover Part II lacks the element of surprise — and most of the joy — that helped make the original a hit.”

Christian Science Monitor’s Peter Rainer gave the film a rating of D+ and said, “I can’t dismiss the ugliness behind many of its antics.”

Dallas Morning News’ film critic, Tom Maurstad, gave it a score of B+ and said, “It’s a tribute to the filmmakers, particularly director and co-writer Todd Phillips, that the best way to approach The Hangover Part II is to talk about what it isn’t. It isn’t
a typical sequel, either a watered-down encore or a muddled [extension].”

Regardless of the poor reviews, The Hangover Part II broke many records and is a must watch movie for everyone. You’d love to kill time with your friends and families.
