Imran Khan stands by the Supreme Court

The chairman of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has recently given a statement in which he has expressed his stance of siding with the Supreme Court of Pakistan as well as the Chief Justice if it is challenged by the government.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has been repeatedly asking the present government of the country ruled by the Pakistan People’s Party to ask the Swiss probe to reopen the cases that were closed under the National Reconciliation Ordinance at the time of the
Gen (retd) Parvez Musharraf’s rule. One of the cases that were stopped under the NRO held the current President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari responsible for being involved in money laundering.

However, the President of Pakistan has refused to write to the Swiss probe to restart their investigation despite the fact that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has been asking the government to do so repeatedly. The NRO has now been deemed illegal by the apex
court of Pakistan.

The leader of the PTI has stressed that if the present government tries to hide behind the ideologies of a democratic nation and the sovereignty of the parliament in order to avoid being brought to justice, Imran Khan’s party will not sit back and watch
the show. The PTI leader has threatened that he will bring out his party in the form of public demonstrations against the government of Pakistan and with the Supreme Court of the country as well as the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

The leader of the PTI argued that it was unfair to the individuals present in the jails of Pakistan if the President of the country Asif Ali Zardari did not feel secure to stand tested in front of a neutral body of investigation for something that he is
being named in.

Imran Khan took the opportunity to stress that whoever has joined his party including himself will stand tested to any corruption charges against them and will show themselves as transparent individuals. Imran Khan expressed himself in the following manner
upon the issue:  "I have formed a political committee to decide about who should join the party.”
