Energy crisis in Pakistan (Party Two)

Without making a proper policy, the government allowed a large numbers of people to set up CNG stations. Conversely, the commodity has been rendered short due to setting up filling stations across the country high and wide.

As a New Year gift, the government has increased the prices of petroleum products on the very first day of 2012. In the recent times, people prefer to live separately, quitting the old tradition of joint family system, which increased the consumption of gas in the households.

Another reason in the energy crisis was that the incumbent permitted many housing schemes without actualizing the demand of water and power. The enhanced living standard, with everyone having a separate room, also made the situation severe.

By increasing numbers of electronic gadgets like personal computers, televisions, DVDs, have also added an enhanced consumption of power.

Among them Air Conditioners (ACs) are top of the list that consumes more electricity. It became a commonplace luxury with every room of the house having one.

Another leading problem in the energy crises is the belittling sense of community. It became out of fashion, particularly in elite and high class, to share rooms with elders and siblings.

Now people even do not sit in a lone room to watch television, which was one of the main essences in the family gatherings. Everyone has his/her own television set in a separate room.

Considering the consciousness of status-quo, the options like car pools have been disappeared in the society, which can also reduce the usage of petroleum products.

Another factor in the electricity shortage is line losses that appeared to have wasted the energy. The lower ranks of society to which the culture of corruption and bribery instilled is also increasing the burden over other, by stealing the electricity.

This trend will be heightened with higher energy costs. However, the government is chiefly responsible for indecent planning and failing to explore the new ways like striking civil-nuclear compacts, wind electricity and solar energy.

A commoner cannot be blamed for everything. At the instant effort to overcome the energy crisis, while fresher options to be searched, we will have to change our living-styles in accordance with the needs of the present world.

  1. Very Nice article. I would also advice you to write an article on energy management.
