Virender Sehwag rubbishes rumours of dispute in the team

India’s Virender Sehwag has rubbished talks of dispute in the team, saying that everyone was united and MS Dhoni has the backing of all the senior players.

After India’s humiliating loss to Australia in Sydney, former skipper Sunil Gavaskar felt that Dhoni lacked the support of some senior players, who did not bother about the team’s dismal show in Test cricket.

"Captains need help because they are under pressure every time," Gavaskar said on NDTV. "They need a vice-captain or a senior player who is going to come up at regular intervals and say, look, maybe try something different. And I don’t think Dhoni
is getting that … Everybody is in their own cocoon, and that’s where Dhoni needs a lot more interaction from the group itself."

However, Sehwag did not accept such claims and said that everything will be back to normal once the team starts winning games.

"When teams start losing then these kind of things come, but there is nothing true in that," Sehwag told the Age. "We are playing as a team, and we are fine. I can’t talk about anything else because there are rules, but
you asked me about this and I can say it is rubbish. We are a unit, and we are carrying on for the next Test."

Veteran Indian batsman Rahul Dravid echoed the words of Sehwag and said that the team was being criticised because of the lacklustre performance in the opening two Tests against India.

The Men in Blue have now lost six straight Tests on foreign soil, which has led to severe criticism on them nationwide. They were whitewashed by 4-0 on the English tour despite starting the series as the number one team in the longest version
of the game back then.

Dhoni was dejected at the loss of his side after that, but blamed lack of practice games for a dismal show in England.

However, the Indian captain will have no excuses this time around, as he has a full strength side that played a couple of tour matches in Australia.

India will have to win at-least one game in order to save their pride, but the current situation suggests that the Kangaroos will rout them in the remaining two Tests.
