An interesting challan on The Mall

Police is supposed to guard lives, honours and possessions of the people; no more no less. What the Pakistani police does is to guard its own interests on the expense of the legal rights of the helpless public. The biggest crime in Pakistan is posing to
be a civilized citizen. The more you are morally corrupt, the more you will be comfortable on the land which we are forced to call our ‘homeland’.

I tell you a tale of an interest challan done by a traffic warden on the Mall road of Lahore. One of my relatives named as Sajid was returning from office on bike in an evening. Unfortunately, he was wearing black pent, black shirt, black upper and black
helmet too.

As he was passing in front of the Punjab Assembly, which is supposedly a place of ‘justice’ and ‘lawmaking’, a warden stopped him, took him to the roadside and order him to get down. On demand by the policeman, Sajid produced driving license, bike documents
and NIC. He had not committed any sort of violation of traffic rules.

There was no overt and covert reason to punish him. After an interval of ten minutes, the warden suddenly shouted as he had founded a reason to issue a fine notice to Sajid. You will be surprised to know the reason. The warden asked him that he seems to
be a spy as he was black from toe to head, therefore, he is liable to be punished. What a nonsense but interesting!

In short, Sajid was issued a fine notice of Rs. 200. What you will derive from this incidence is clear indication of the corrupt mentality of our men in uniform. Almost 90 percent of our policemen get jobs via wrong channels, therefore, they are incompetent
to perform their duties according to the written statute and human ethics.

In the presence of such watchdogs, how can we except a crime-free and peaceful society. There can be to peace in the society where laws are used as shields to get heinous personal interests.

What our political administrators do is to appoint a large number of policemen every year on the public money. They never bother to refine this oppressive and passive system which is the root cause of most of our social problems. Actually, they do not need
to do so as their politics can never work without corrupt and inhuman henchmen. This state of affairs is too deplorable.
