I’m Watch: The wrist watch that became an attraction at Consumer Electronic Show 2012

The 2012 version of Consumer Electronic Show has become the most attractive event of the year so far. Besides attracting the public to flamboyant line of Ultrabooks, the event has showcased a number of other products like smartphones and televisions. However, the event saw a new trend toward smart watches offered by various technology companies. The one that shined out among the cluster was the I’m Watch.

The Italian company, solely dedicated to the manufacturing of smart, multipurpose watches, showcased its product in the line. The main reason why I’m Watch stood out as the best among its peers, which includes a strong contender, Sony, is that it has everything included in the device within reach of the user.

Unlike Sony’s Smartwatch, the I’m Watch is an independent unit. Though it can be connected to a smartphone seamlessly, it can operate all the applications from clock to music player to internet surfing to phone features in a standalone mode.

Equipped with Bluetooth, WiFi and GSM/GPRS features, the device was one of most attractive item at the show.

I’m Watch is a hybrid of phone, wrist watch, music player and internet browser. Although it is limited to a select few internet applications like RSS, Twitter, Facebook and Email, it serves the purpose of a handy tech on the wrist.

With Bluetooth the device connects flawlessly to a Bluetooth headset and the user has freedom of listening to radio and playlists on the go.

There is a 3.5mm headset jack in the device as well. Whether on Bluetooth or wired headset, the watch displays the Caller ID and all the prerequisites of being a phone. The size a normal wrist watch, the device is powered by Android 1.6 and offers a host of applications ranging from social networking to fitness.

The only drawback in this Armani-of-smart-watches is the lack of a camera but that tech can no longer remain separated from this diminutive gadget.
